What you'll need alongside it.
A Mac with Apple Silicon
An M1 or newer Mac running macOS 13+. That's the whole hardware requirement. Your media server is the Mac you already own.
Optionally, a VPN subscription
If you turn on downloading, Lunaris seals it behind a VPN you bring (ProtonVPN, Mullvad, and other WireGuard providers). We don't sell or resell VPN service.
Optionally, a free Plex account
Plex and Jellyfin are both supported. Jellyfin needs no account at all; Plex's free tier is plenty. No Plex Pass required.
And to be clear about what you're not buying:

Lunaris exists because a self-hosted stack is a moving target: upstream apps change, and keeping everything working is ongoing effort. One fair payment funds that maintenance without a subscription. Compared with the setup weekend it replaces, the babysitting after that, or a lifetime Plex Pass, it's priced to be the easy choice.
What do updates cost?
Nothing extra. Founders (the first 100) get every future update, major versions included, forever. Launch buyers get every Lunaris 1.x update included, and the app you bought keeps working for good. If we ever ship a paid major upgrade, it will be optional, and free for founders.
