License Agreement
Last updated July 2026 · v1.0
This is the license for the Lunaris Mac app. It's between you and Lunaris ("we", "us"). Paddle.com is our merchant of record: they process the payment, issue your receipt, and handle order inquiries, but the software license comes from us. Buying or using Lunaris means you agree to these terms.
What you get
A personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Lunaris on Macs you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. One license per person. You don't need an account, and the app never locks you out of your own files.
Updates
Founder licenses (the first 100, sold before public launch) include every future update, major versions included, for as long as Lunaris exists. No upgrade fees, ever.
Standard licenses (sold at and after launch) include every Lunaris 1.x update. The version you bought keeps working forever. If we ever ship a paid major upgrade, buying it is optional, and it stays free for founders.
We ship updates when they're ready rather than on a schedule, and we can't promise a specific feature or fix by a specific date.
What Lunaris is, and what it isn't
Lunaris is a tool that sets up and manages media-server software on your Mac. It doesn't host, provide, or point you to any movies, shows, music, or other content. What you download, store, and stream with the software it manages is your responsibility, and you agree to use Lunaris only for content you're legally allowed to access in your country. We may end the license of anyone using Lunaris for clearly unlawful purposes.
Third-party software
Lunaris installs and manages open-source applications (such as Plex Media Server, Jellyfin, Sonarr, Radarr, qBittorrent, and others). Those projects belong to their own maintainers, are licensed under their own terms, and are free with or without Lunaris. Your Plex account is governed by Plex's terms; your VPN subscription by your VPN provider's. We're not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
Container runtime: Lunaris can install OrbStack to run these services. OrbStack is free for personal use, but commercial use requires a paid license from OrbStack directly. If you use Lunaris in a business setting, that license is on you. Docker Desktop is a supported alternative with its own licensing.
A self-hosted stack is a moving target: third-party apps, indexers, and services change or shut down on their own schedules. We work to keep Lunaris compatible, and much of the app exists to absorb exactly this churn, but we can't guarantee any specific third-party integration works forever.
Refunds
Every purchase carries a 14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. The full policy is at getlunaris.app/refunds. If a purchase is refunded, this license ends; your media and the underlying open-source apps stay yours and stay on your Mac.
Ownership and restrictions
Lunaris is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights to the app itself. You agree not to resell, redistribute, rent, or sublicense the app, and not to reverse engineer it except where the law says we can't stop you. Configuration the app writes on your machine, and everything in your library, is yours.
Privacy
Lunaris has no analytics, no telemetry, and no account system. The app talks to outside services only to do its job: checking for container image updates, linking your Plex account when you ask it to, validating an API key you provide, and downloading the container runtime. What it learns about your library stays on your Mac. The website's separate privacy policy covers getlunaris.app.
No warranty
Lunaris is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some places don't allow this kind of disclaimer, so parts of it may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim arising from Lunaris is capped at the amount you paid for it, and we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost data. Back up what matters to you; the app even sets up config backups to help.
Ending this license
The license ends if you materially break these terms and don't fix it after we point it out, or when a purchase is refunded. You can end it any time by deleting the app.
Changes
If we update these terms for future versions, the changes won't take away what you already bought: founder terms in particular are locked for the life of the product. The current version always lives at getlunaris.app/eula.
The legal frame
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. If a court finds part of it unenforceable, the rest stands. Questions: hello@getlunaris.app.
